To accomplish these objectives, the CPRIT CIA will provide awards of up to $300,000 for up to 5 years to physicians who are within the first 5 years of a faculty appointment as an Associate Professor to acquire additional skills and experience in clinical research, to develop preliminary data that can be used to prepare applications for future clinical research projects to further both the investigator’s career and the CPRIT mission, and to provide mentorship for an early-stage investigator in clinical research.
Description:
The overall goal of the CPRIT CIA is to ensure that a diverse pool of highly trained and accomplished physician-scientists is available to address Texas’ and the nation’s needs in clinical oncology research. The number of highly talented individuals entering a career in clinical investigation is decreasing at a time when the excitement and challenge associated with clinical cancer research has never been greater.
