Topic Area 1: University Research Reactor Upgrades (RU) Infrastructure Support • Approximate total available funding: $2,500,000 in FY 2026. • Approximate number of awards: 3 to 5. • Approximate dollar amount of individual awards: $0 - $1,500,000. • Minimum cost share required: Cost Sharing is not required, but is encouraged. • Approximate award project period: 12 months (longer project periods are allowable). • Anticipated length of budget periods: 12 months. Topic Area 2: General Scientific Infrastructure (GSI) Support for Universities • Approximate total available funding: $2,500,000 in FY 2026. • Approximate number of awards: no less than 1 to 10. • Approximate dollar amount of individual awards: $250,000. • Minimum cost share required: Cost Sharing is not required, but is encouraged, for requests less than or equal to $250,000; a 1-to-1 Cost Match is required for requests greater than $250,000. • Approximate award project period: 12 months (longer project periods are allowable). • Anticipated length of budget periods: 12 months.

Description:

The goals of this NOFO include: (1) Supporting, maintaining, or enhancing an institution’s capacities to attract and teach high quality students interested in nuclear energy-related studies; (2) building an institution’s research or education capabilities; and (3) enhancing an institution’s capabilities to perform R&D that is relevant to NE’s broader mission.
